Light painting
Light painting is a technique in photography usually done in the dark and involves using some sort light to draw or "paint" light in the air
A single exposure is ment to last a little long usually about 5 minutes long but can range from a few seconds to several hours. A lot of light painting photographer tend to us Digital SLR cameras with a tripod but the camera can be any one that has longer shutter speeds with a remote shutter release to give them full flexibility with their light painting effort. |

ISO definition
ISO means how sensitive the light is when the camera is taking an image. the settings are: 100, 200, 400, 800. the lower the number the lower the sensitivity and the finer the gain the shot your taking.
Man Ray
Man Ray was born on August 27th 1890, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States with his orginal name Emmanuel Radnitzky.
He had helped with the Dada and Surrealist movements. He has multiple works in media but prefers to think of himself as a painter. he was best known as a photographer but was renown as a fashion and portrait photographer. He was also really known for his work with photograms which he later renamed "rayographs" In 1904 to 1909 during his high school life, he would educate himself by occasionally visiting an art museum where he would study the work of Old Masters |
Frank Gilbreth
Frank Gilbreth was born on July 7th 1868, Fairfield, Maine, United States, died June 14th 1924, Montclair, New Jersey.
He would use longer shutter speed to keep an eye on manufacturing and clerical workers. He was well known for being the father of Frank Bunker Gilbreth and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey who wrote Cheaper by the Dozen. He had started off when he left high school and became a building contractor, an inventor, and then finally a management engineer. |
Gjon Mili
Gjon Mili was born November 28th 1904 in Korce, Albania and was brought up in Romania but sadly died February 14th 1984 in Stamford, Connecticut, United States.
Gjon was a photographer working for LIFE magazines, also well known for his published work in LIFE magazines with photographs of artists like Pablo Picasso, he also photographed celebrities, concerts, sculptures, sport events, and architecture. |

I chose to put this video on my website because of how resourceful the man in the video is when doing light painting.
He just uses some sort of light source, attached it to a movable object that he probably crafted and was able to create some awesome patterns in the final image. Just to add i also like how he used for example a laser to sort of reflect another light source against an object also meaning who ever is doing the light painting could do it from a distance using a laser. |

Some of the images we had the model pose in a way that made the light painting match what the model was doing to make the photo that little bit more interesting.
For the aperture we used F.10, F.8, F.4.5, and F.4 and for time we used 10, 8, and 5 seconds. We had to lower the aperture from F.10 all the way down to F.4 and lowered the time from 10 seconds all the way down to 5 seconds because the picture was too bright and you were not able to see the light painting very well. I think we could have focused a bit more when we were doing the light painting and didnt mess around as much because we didnt make any notes so therefore most of us didnt know what we were doing with the camera which meant mistakes were made when taking images. |
